Definition
An AI SDR is software that takes on parts of a sales development role, such as finding accounts, researching them, drafting outreach or sending it, under rules a person sets.
The category often promises a rep you do not manage. That is the failure mode. An unmanaged sender produces volume and a brand problem. TWL’s phrase is a controllable AI SDR: supervise the work, constrain the accounts and actions, approve what leaves the building.
Inside the product, that is an agent using Signals, Tables, Workflows and TWL Reach on the shared runtime. It is not a separate chatbot with a mailbox. Adding capacity without adding headcount is the outcome when the constraints are real.
Valley, lemlist and others also describe AI help for outbound. Compare the control model and the rest of the stack, not the label. The SDR team page is the operating version of this definition.

Questions people ask
Does the AI SDR send by default?
Not in the setup this site recommends. Draft and approve is the starting constraint. You can loosen it only after you have seen the work.
Does it replace SDRs?
It replaces repeated research and blank-page writing. It does not replace a conversation that should be human, or the judgment about whether a signal is real.
Which channel does it use?
TWL Reach is email and LinkedIn. Other channels are a different page, the campaign engine, and they are not silently included.
Where do we see it in the product?
Start at TWL Reach and the SDR teams page. Agents are the runtime. Reach is the sequence.
Put the next workflow on the stack.
Start with the tool you need. Connect signals, TWL Reach and the rest of the system when the job is real.
