Signals

Product launches as signals

A launch tells you what the company wants the market to notice. Write about the adjacent problem, not about the fact they launched.

What this signal is

A product-launch signal is a public announcement of a product, feature, market or campaign. The record needs the URL, the date and the claim the company made. Your email should depend on that claim.

Launches attract congratulatory email. The signal is only useful if your offer sits next to a job the launch creates: distribution, onboarding, security, hiring, data, the thing you actually do.

Why it is worth a look

Timing is real, and so is the noise. A specific consequence beats speed. If you cannot name the consequence from the announcement, wait for a second signal.

Marketing agencies and devtools companies use this differently. The industry pages split the question. The platform underneath is the same connected system.

How a TWL workflow captures it

Workflows capture the announcement and require a mapped “adjacent job” before draft is allowed. The agent proposes the adjacent job from a list you wrote. It does not invent a new one.

There is no separate launch playbook yet. Use the funding playbook’s discipline: no second fact, no send. A human adds the launch play when the pattern repeats.

Example TWL Reach message

Illustrative draft. Replace the brackets with the source you actually captured. Do not send it as-is, and do not invent a detail the source does not contain.

Email · day 2, not minute one

Subject: After [product] shipped, the [adjacent job]

Hi [first name], the launch post says [claim]. The part that usually gets messy next is [adjacent job you do].

Is that on your list this month, or is the launch the whole story for now?

Questions people ask

Should we write on launch day?

You can capture on launch day. Sending in the first hour joins a pile of generic notes. A note on day two that cites a real consequence is easier to answer.

What if we are the competitor they launched against?

Be factual and quiet. Do not bait. A comment they made is a better signal than the launch headline. See competitor engagement.

Can the agent decide the adjacent job?

Only from the list you approved. New adjacent jobs are a human edit to the system, which is the point of building systems rather than prompts.

Which teams is this for?

Marketing agencies, devtools and SaaS startups are the industry pages that use it most.
